Land Rover was established as a corporation in 1978 and is derived from the 1948 Land Rover all-terrain vehicle company by Land Rover. The first Land Rover was shown at the Amsterdam car show in 1948. The ladder frame and a back-splash were made out of steel. Aluminum was used for most other parts of the prototype. At the time aluminum was three times more expensive than steel, but more flexible and most steel reserves had been used up during World War II.
